Earth as seen from a million miles away

The DSCOVR satellite sits at the Sun-Earth L1 Lagrange point — a gravitational sweet spot where the Sun's and Earth's pull balance the spacecraft's orbital motion. From there, EPIC photographs the fully sunlit Earth several times a day, capturing the only routinely-updated full-disk view of our planet that doesn't come from a geostationary weather satellite stuck over one ocean.
